SUMMARY:Hazard & Operability Studies (HAZOPS) & Hazard Identification Study (HAZIDS)
DESCRIPTION:BACKGROUND:\nHazard & Operability Studies (HAZOPS) & Hazard Identification Study (HAZIDS) is very comon terminology in oil and gas industries and other types where its operation involve potential severe hazards. \nHAZOPS stand for hazard Hazards & Operability Staudye. It is a systematic method of analysis of the operability parameters deviations using a specific vocabulary. The required documents in order to accomplish the study are the equipment sketches (PID\, PFDs) and a process description. \nHAZID- is a utilized technique for the identification of the significant hazards related to an operational activity. The study is based on key-words such as Control philosophy/ Flammable/ Toxic materials Hazards related to Electricity/ Security hazards/ Health hazards/ Hazards related to Height Safety Equipment – State of the Art/Operation philosophy (Manning\, Training\, etc.) \nBackground & About the Course\nHAZOP (Hazard and Operability Study) is a systematic analysis method used to evaluate deviations in operability parameters through a specific vocabulary. Essential documents for conducting a HAZOP study include equipment sketches (P&IDs\, PFDs) and process descriptions. HAZID (Hazard Identification) is a technique used to identify significant hazards associated with operational activities\, focusing on keywords related to control philosophy\, flammable and toxic materials\, electrical hazards\, security hazards\, health hazards\, and safety equipment. \nThis training course aims to equip participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively conduct HAZOP and HAZID studies\, enhancing their ability to manage risks and ensure safety in industrial operations. \nCourse Objectives\nUpon completion of this course\, participants will be able to: \n\nUnderstand the concept of risk and the risk management process.\nProvide a framework for HAZOP within risk assessment and an HSE Management System.\nReview the role of HAZOP within HSE project plans.\nIncrease familiarity with HAZOP protocol\, logic\, structure\, and methodology.\nDescribe the role and structure of the HAZOP Team and procedures.\nIntroduce the role\, responsibilities\, and conduct of a HAZOP Team Leader.\nGain hands-on experience in applying HAZOP to various processes and systems.\n\nWho Should Attend\nThis training is recommended for: \n\nProduction and Facilities Managers\nEngineers (Design\, Process\, Facilities\, Instrumentation\, and Control)\nOperations and Safety Process Operators\nSafety/Environment Personnel\nPlant Operators\nMaintenance Personnel\n\nCourse Outline\n\nHAZOP Method\n\n\nHAZOP study assumptions and applications\nIdeal HAZOP review reference data\nCredible and non-credible scenarios\nHAZOP technical suggestions and recommendations\nAdministrative and engineering controls\nApproaches to assigning protection layers\nPerformance-based and prescriptive approaches (API-RP-14C)\nHAZOP workshop\n\n\nHazard Identification\n\n\nHazard management process and factors increasing hazard potential\nUnderstanding risk\, consequences\, and tolerable risk\nEvaluating risk using ALARP and risk matrices\nProtective measures and risk reduction strategies\nProcess deviations and undesirable events\nSeparation of process control and safety control systems\n\n\nHazard Analysis\n\n\nRisk criteria and estimating likelihood\nUnderstanding failure modes: safe\, dangerous\, detected\, and undetected failures\nSafety Instrumented Systems (SIS) and Safety Integrity Levels (SIL)\nRisk reduction and reliability assessment\nLayer of Protection Analysis (LOPA) and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA)\n\n\nCase Study\n\n\nApplication of HAZOP and HAZID methodologies in real-world scenarios.\n\n\n\nABOUT THE COURSE LEADER:\nIr. Alfia Djabar\, Facilitator for HAZOP\, HAZID and SIL Classification study. Working experiences more than 30 years in oil & gas industries; 13 years at Chevron Pacific Indonesia in Duri Riau\, 12.5 years at several engineering consultant in Jakarta with various positions (facilities engineer\, process engineer\, project engineer and project manager)\, and full time Facilitator since January 2018. \nLead HAZOP\, HAZID and SIL workshops more than 105 times for upstream oil & gas facilities\, Pertamina refineries\, detergent plant\, and geothermal facilities. Experienced Excel VBA programmer and have developed dozen engineering calculation and data management: \n\ncontrol valve sizing (gas & liquid)\,\nPSV sizing\,\n2-phase and 3-phase separator sizing (vertical an horizontal)\,\nSingle & network hydraulic pipeline (gas & liquid)\,\nGas pipe noise prediction\,\nEmployee timesheet for engineering projects\,\nCause & Effect for searching and finding\,\nHAZOP and SIL Workbook packaged\n\nPublic Training berikutnya : 4 – 6 Agustus\, 2026 | 9 – 11 November\, 2026
