SUMMARY:Basic Drilling & Well Completion
DESCRIPTION:Background:\nDrilling and Well Completion are two critical phases in the lifecycle of an oil and gas well. A successful drilling operation not only ensures the structural integrity of the wellbore but also lays the foundation for effective production and long-term safety. Comprehensive understanding of well design\, drilling fluid behavior\, equipment selection\, and completion strategies is essential to minimize risks and maximize well performance in the long run. \nThis training program is structured to provide a solid technical foundation as well as a practical perspective for professionals involved in drilling & completion operations. The content covers all key stages\, including SHE aspects — from well planning and rig setup to casing\, cementing\, and the installation of wellhead and Christmas tree — ensuring participants gain both theoretical and operational clarity. \nDelivered by an experienced industry practitioner in former Caltex Pacific Indonesia Area\, other PSC Company in Indonesia & Middle East Area\, this course offers more than textbook knowledge. The instructor combines field-proven methods with academic principles\, sharing real-world insights that help participants connect engineering concepts with actual rig-site challenges and decision-making. \nTraining Objectives:\nBy the end of this training\, participants are expected understand and will be able to:\n– Well design\, drilling fluid\, drill string and BOP / wellheads & BHA design for proper deviation\n– Drill a well cost effectively and maximize penetration rate avoid potential problems by optimizing hole cleaning and ROP\n– Initial well completion and running in hole the completion string\, installing wellhead and Christmas tree until ready to operate the well \n\nRecommended Participants\nCourse Outline\nAbout The Course Leader\n\n\n\nRecommended Participants:\nThis course is designed for a wide range of Technical Professionals involved in drilling operations who will greatly benefit: Drilling Engineers\, Well Site Supervisors\, Drilling Contractors\, Drilling Supervisors\, Trainee Drillers\, Well Services\, Rig Engineers\, Well Surveillance and Intervention\, Well Completion Engineering\, Production Engineering and Operations\, Safety Engineering\, Management and Integrity\, Well Head Equipment Manufacturers\, Production Technology Engineering\, Drilling and Well Integrity Technology Providers\, The decision maker of Government/Authority Institution on oil and gas \n\n\nTraining Outline:\n1. SUMMARY:Rig and Equipment Selection
DESCRIPTION:Background:\nRig and equipment selection is a critical early decision in drilling planning that directly affects safety\, operational efficiency\, cost\, and overall project success. Inappropriate rig selection can lead to operational limitations\, excessive non-productive time (NPT)\, or increased HSE exposure. For example\, lack of appropriate knowledge may wrongly select rig rental company during tender evaluation. \nThis course is designed to provide engineers and supervisors—up to drilling management level—with a structured framework for selecting drilling rigs and major equipment based on well objectives\, geological conditions\, operational challenges\, and economic considerations. The training emphasizes decision-making rather than vendor-specific details. \nBy combining technical fundamentals with operational and managerial perspectives\, participants will gain a holistic understanding of how rig capabilities\, equipment configuration\, and well requirements must align to deliver safe and efficient drilling operations. \nObjectives:\n• Understand the classification\, capabilities\, and limitations of different drilling rig types.\n• Identify key technical and operational parameters influencing rig and equipment selection.\n• Evaluate well requirements against rig capacity\, equipment ratings\, and site constraints.\n• Integrate safety\, cost\, logistics\, and operational risks into rig selection decisions.\n• Enhance decision-making skills for rig selection at engineering and management levels.\n• Improve cross-functional alignment between drilling\, operations\, HSE\, and management teams. \n\nRecommended Participants\nCourse Outline\nAbout The Course Leader\n\n\n\nRecommended Participants:\n• Drilling Engineers\n• Petroleum Engineers\n• Drilling Supervisors\n• Drilling Superintendents\n• Drilling Managers\n• Well Planning & Operations Personnel\n• HSE and QA/QC personnel involved in drilling projects \n\n\nCourse Outline:\n1. Overview of Drilling Rig Types\n• Land rigs\, jack-up rigs\, semi-submersibles\, and drillships.\n• Typical applications\, strengths\, and limitations of each rig type. \n2. Well Requirements and Operational Drivers\n• Well depth\, trajectory\, and hole sizes.\n• Formation challenges: pressure\, temperature\, stability\, and losses.\n• Onshore vs offshore operational environments. \n3. Rig Capacity and Key Selection Parameters\n• Hoisting systems\, hook load\, mast and substructure capacity.\n• Rotary system\, top drive capacity\, and setback requirements.\n• Mud systems\, pumps\, and solids control. \n4.
