SUMMARY:Practical Drilling
DESCRIPTION:BACKGROUND:\nThis course teaches how to listen to the well\, perform simple tests on the rig\, and make proper decisions unique to each well. The intent is to eliminate visible and invisible Non-Productive Time (NPT). Visible NPT includes stuck pipe\, conditioning drilling fluid\, lost circulation\, etc. Invisible NPT is often far more expensive and includes drilling much slower than is possible\, wearing out the bits prematurely\, and bad cement barriers. Considerable attention is devoted to correcting drilling fluid properties and controlling filter cake quality. This eliminates many seen and unseen obstacles for drilling a trouble-free hole as cheaply as possible. This involves proper drilling fluid processing in the surface tanks. No discussion will be presented of fishing tools—they should rarely be needed after this course. Bring a calculator—you will need it. \n  \nOBJECTIVES:\nParticipants will learn how to: \n\nCalibrate a mud logger’s gas unit curve\nInterpret gas unit curves\nDetermine pore pressure\nSelect the correct nozzle sizes and flow rate to make the fluid strike the bottom of the hole with the greatest force possible or the greatest power available\nSelect drilling fluid yield point needed to clean the vertical portion of the well\nExtend the life of drill bits and have the maximum drilling rate by determining the flounder point of a roller cone or PDC bit\nAvoid poor cementing jobs by creating a thin\, slick\, compressible filter cake\nDecrease vibration which seriously impacts PDC bit performance by eliminating drilled solids\nArrange equipment for a proper PIT\nRead Pressure Integrity charts\nEvaluate dull bits to select the best next bit\nUnderstand well bore instability\n\n\n\nRECOMMENDED PARTICIPANTS:\nDrilling Rig Personnel\, Drilling Engineers\, Drilling Rig Supervisors\, Tool Pushers\, Drilling Managers\, and Service Company Personnel. \n\n\nCOURSE OUTLINE:\n\nInterpretation of mud logger gas units\nDetermining pore pressure\nOn-site hydraulic optimization\nSelecting proper bit loading (weight on bit and rotary speed) for the fastest\, cheapest hole\nInterpreting pressure integrity tests\nHole problems (such as\, stuck pipe\, lost circulation\, and ballooning)\nBorehole stability\nOperating guidelines\nDrilling fluid properties necessary to maximize drilling performance\nDiscussion of polymers in drilling fluids\nSolids control equipment arrangement to assure best drilled solids removal\n\n\n\nABOUT THE COURSE LEADER:\nProf. Herianto\, Ir\, M.Sc.\, Ph.D is Doctor of Philosophy in Petroleum Engineering\, UTM\, SKUDAI\, Malaysia. SUMMARY:Well Completion and Workover
DESCRIPTION:BACKGROUND:\nWell completion and workover represent two essential activities in the oil and gas industry\, applicable to both oil and gas wells. The initial completion process enables production fluids to flow into the wellbore and subsequently to surface facilities. Conversely\, workovers are necessary when production levels begin to decline over time. Thus\, workovers are often performed repeatedly. Typically\, well completion occurs only once in the life of an oil or gas well\, whereas workovers may take place regularly whenever a Production Engineer identifies an opportunity to enhance production rates. \nEngaging in oil and gas activities entails significant capital investment and inherent risks\, as operations involve flammable fluids\, high pressure\, and elevated temperatures. Therefore\, all personnel involved must possess the necessary knowledge and qualifications\, along with sufficient experience. However\, it is common for some individuals to lack the required prerequisites for their roles. As a result\, supplementary training may be necessary to ensure that operations are conducted safely\, technically sound\, and environmentally friendly. \nOBJECTIVES:\nAfter attending this training participants expected to: \n\nUnderstand correct prosedur and technique of well completion dan workover\nRecognize and familiar with equipment related to workover and well completion\nUndestand technique and function of well stimulation\nAnalysis well problem and give the right solutions\nImprove well flow performance\nDesign workover and well completion\nAnalisa completion and workover results\n\nTRAINING CONTENT:\n\nBasics of Production Techniques: Reservoir flow energy\, Oil well production testing\, Gas well production testing\nWell Completion Practices: Types of well completion\, Interval selection and productivity considerations\nDownhole Production Equipment: Tubular products\, Packers\, Circulating devices\, Nipples\, Blast joint and flow coupling\, Telescopic swivel joints\, Subsurface Safety Valves\, Artificial lift equipment\, Wellhead Assemblies\n Perforating: Shaped charges\, Industry testing procedures\, Gun categories\, Specialized equipment and operation\, Casing deformation/damage\, Perforation productivity considerations\, Field completion considerations\, Wellhead pressure control\, Depth control technique\nProduction Problems\n Sand Control: Basic technology\, Control methods\, Program engineering\nTypes of workovers: Full-bore\, Thru- tubing\n Workover equipment: Rigs\, Hydraulic (Snubbing) Units\, Coiled tubing\n Workover fluids selection\n Hydraulic fracturing\n Acidizing\n Acid-Hydraulic Fracturing\n Corrosion\, Scale\, and Paraffin Removal\n Changing of Production Zones\n Leak Detection and Isolation\n Economic Analysis and Decision\n\nWHO SHOULD ATTEND:\n\nDrilling Team: Engineer\, Superintendent\, Supervisor\nWell Services team: Rig Manager\, Service Company Drilling\, Rig Supervisor\nPetroleum Engineering Team: Workover engineer\,  Production Engineer\, Production superintendent\, Production Supervisor\, Senior Operator\nHSE Supervisor\, and Maintenance Supervisor.\n\nTRAINER:\nProf. Herianto\, Ir.\, M.Sc.\, Ph.D.
