Kehandalan ini dibangun dari kehandalan masing-masing peralatan yang berfungsi secara bersama. Plant yang handal akan menghasilkan waktu produksi yang tinggi. Peralatan instrumentasi dan kontrol memiliki peran penting dalam fungsi proteksi serta kontrol dan monitoring proses produksi. \nKegagalan peralatan instrumentasi seringkali berdampak signifikan terhadap keselamatan dan produksi. Peralatan dengan kehandalan rendah dapat menyebabkan kehilangan produksi dan kegagalan proteksi.
