Lock Out Tag Out

Background & About the Course

Tag Out & Lock Out (LOTO) is a safety procedure designed to protect workers from potential hazards caused by the unexpected release of energy during the maintenance or repair of equipment. LOTO is essential not only for electrical teams but also for production, operation, maintenance, and instrumentation teams, as every system in the oil and gas industry has a high potential for energy hazards.

However, LOTO implementation is often inconsistent or poorly understood across various disciplines, which can lead to incidents that jeopardize worker safety and the environment. This training is designed to provide practical and in-depth understanding of LOTO procedures applicable across various operational fields.

Course Objectives

Participants will be able to:

  • Understand the fundamental principles and regulations underlying LOTO procedures.
  • Identify potential energy hazards in a cross-disciplinary work environment.
  • Master the practical application of LOTO procedures for all operational systems, including production, maintenance, electrical, and instrumentation.
  • Ensure workplace safety through a uniform understanding among operations and maintenance teams.
  • Foster a strong safety culture through consistent and effective LOTO implementation.

Who Should Attend

This training is recommended for:

  • Production and Equipment Operators
  • Maintenance Technicians
  • Electrical Engineers and Technicians
  • Instrumentation Engineers and Technicians
  • Operations, Maintenance, and Safety Supervisors or Managers
