Flow Accelerated Corrosion

BACKGROUND:

Flow Accelerated Corrosion (FAC) is a critical issue in industrial systems where high-velocity fluids interact with metallic surfaces, leading to accelerated material degradation. Commonly found in power plants, oil and gas operations, and chemical processing facilities, FAC poses significant risks to system integrity, safety, and operational efficiency. Left unaddressed, FAC can result in costly repairs, unplanned shutdowns, and even catastrophic failures, emphasizing the need for a proactive approach in understanding and mitigating its impact.

This training program is designed to equip participants with a comprehensive understanding of FAC, including its causes, mechanisms, detection methods, and mitigation strategies. By combining theoretical knowledge with practical insights, the program aims to enhance participants’ ability to identify FAC risks, implement preventive measures, and respond effectively to FAC-related issues, ensuring the long-term reliability and safety of their operational systems.

OBJECTIVES:

  • Understand the fundamental principles and mechanisms of Flow Accelerated Corrosion.
  • Identify the operational conditions and system designs prone to FAC.
  • Recognize the signs and indicators of FAC during inspections and operations.
  • Apply appropriate detection methods, including non-destructive testing (NDT) and monitoring technologies.
  • Develop and implement mitigation strategies to reduce FAC risks, such as material selection, system design modifications, and chemical treatments.
  • Enhance maintenance planning and decision-making to minimize FAC-related downtime and costs.

RECOMMENDED PARTICIPANTS:

  • Engineers and technical personnel in power generation, oil and gas, and chemical processing industries.
  • Maintenance and reliability engineers responsible for system integrity and safety.
  • Inspection and quality assurance teams involved in corrosion monitoring and analysis.
  • Supervisors and managers overseeing operations prone to FAC risks.
