Power Plant – Waste Water Treatment (Training Workshop)

Background & About the Course:
Especially for coal fired Power Plant, Waste Water Treatment needs serious attention.
Wastewater Treatment (WWT) management is essential in line with Q-HSE programs and operations, especially for large-scale industries. In Indonesia, WWT is mandated by law, specifically under Government Regulation PP 22 of 2021, which emphasizes environmental protection. Industries must comply with established quality standards, including regulations from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (menLH) regarding industrial and domestic wastewater. The government encourages industries to recycle wastewater to improve river conditions. Therefore, companies must enhance their commitment to improving WWT performance, ensuring reliable and accountable equipment.
Course Objectives:
After attending this WWT training, participants are expected to:
- Understand the latest environmental regulations regarding industrial and domestic wastewater.
- Recognize the characteristics of wastewater and map its sources.
- Comprehend anaerobic biological processes, design, operation, and volumetric organic loading calculations.
- Improve existing operational systems and comply with applicable regulations.
Who Should Attend:
This training is recommended for:
- Q-HSE personnel
- Environmental Engineers, Supervisors, and Operators
- Field Managers ensuring compliance with wastewater regulations
Course Outline:
- Latest Environmental Regulations: Understanding PERTEK & SLO for industrial and domestic wastewater.
- Wastewater Characteristics: Mapping sources, identifying ammonia, phenol, organic waste (BOD5 and COD), and other parameters.
- Government Regulations: Overview of PP 22/2021, menLH No. 5/2014, No. 8/2009, No. 68/2016, and monitoring regulations.
- Physical and Chemical Processes: Design and operation, including hydraulic retention time (HRT) and hydraulic surface loading (HSL).
- Anaerobic Biological Processes: Design, operation, and calculations for various anaerobic systems (e.g., CSTR, UASB).
- Aerobic Biological Processes: Design, operation, and key metrics (COD, BOD load, MLSS, DO).
- Nitrification and Denitrification: Design, operation, and calculations for ammonia conversion and blower requirements.
- Post-Treatment and Recycling: Concepts of second clarifiers, media filters, disinfection, and reuse.
- Troubleshooting: Managing shock loads, foaming issues, sludge problems, and effluent quality monitoring.
- Solid Treatment Plant: Overview of MLSS, sludge treatment processes, and equipment (e.g., thickening, dewatering).
