Advanced Instrumentation Control System

April 26 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
Advance Instrument Control System

Background:

As industrial facilities continue to evolve toward higher levels of automation and digitalization, the role of instrumentation and control systems has expanded far beyond basic measurement and loop control. While basic instrumentation and control training provides essential foundational knowledge, it is no longer sufficient to address the challenges of complex processes, integrated control architectures, optimization demands, and data-driven operations found in modern oil & gas, petrochemical, and power generation facilities. So, knowledge on Advanced Instrumentation & Control System become a necessity.

The Advanced Instrumentation & Control System training is designed as a logical next step beyond FJM’s Basic program. This advanced-level course focuses on digital instrumentation, advanced control strategies, system integration, and the utilization of diagnostic and process data to enhance operational performance, reliability, and safety. The program is intended for professionals who already understand basic principles and now need deeper insight into how advanced instrumentation and control systems are engineered, optimized, and leveraged for continuous improvement and digital transformation initiatives.

The oil and gas industry is currently in the midst of a rapid digital transformation. The reliance on analog technology and conventional control systems is giving way to advanced digital instrumentation and integrated control systems. Digital devices not only offer superior accuracy and reliability but also provide rich diagnostic data, enabling smarter and more proactive decision-making.

Objectives:

Upon completion of this training, participants will be able to:

  • Distinguish clearly between basic and advanced instrumentation & control concepts, and understand why advanced competencies are required in modern industrial facilities.

  • Analyze the application of advanced digital instrumentation and utilize diagnostic data to support reliability improvement, predictive maintenance, and operational excellence.

  • Understand and apply advanced control strategies such as cascade, feedforward, ratio control, and introductory concepts of Model Predictive Control (MPC).

  • Evaluate modern control system architectures (DCS, PLC, SCADA) and their integration with digital communication protocols and industrial networks.

  • Understand the role of digital transformation, IIoT, and Asset Management Systems (AMS) in enhancing instrumentation and control system performance.

  • Develop an engineering and optimization mindset, enabling participants to move beyond routine operation toward data-driven analysis, system optimization, and continuous improvement.
