Cathodic Protection Theory and Practice

Background & About the Course
The successful application and performance of Cathodic Protection (CP) systems require specialized personnel, equipment, and resources. Understanding the basic principles is essential, while knowledge and experience are crucial for achieving desired results in the field. Proper training in cathodic protection is often challenging to find, as it necessitates a solid understanding of various topics, including electrical, metallurgical, chemical, mechanical, construction, and engineering aspects that influence the cathodic protection process under actual site conditions.
Therefore, it is vital for practitioners to receive comprehensive training to enhance their knowledge, even if they have previously studied the subject.
Course Objectives
- Understand the fundamental principles of cathodic protection (CP) and its role in preventing corrosion of structures.
- Identify various types of cathodic protection systems, including galvanic anode and impressed current systems, along with their applications.
- Design cathodic protection systems for different types of infrastructure, such as pipelines, storage tanks, and offshore platforms.
- Operate and maintain cathodic protection systems to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot common issues associated with cathodic protection systems.
- Understand international standards and regulations related to the implementation of cathodic protection.
